DENTAL & MEDICAL MISSION
April 29, 2007
Learning from our past Relief Mission in February, we did more careful
planning and preparation to make the event ideal for both volunteers and recipients.
At 8:00
am, people from different barangays
flocked at Maryhill Covered Court. We had more volunteers this time. It was inspiring to see many young people who came
early to be of help with our mission.
The volunteers: came up with very effective system to handle more than
500 would-be patients which paved way to a smooth transition from registration to consultation and serving prescriptions.
Ten doctors and ten dentists came. Wow! The doctors came with their stethoscope
and the dentists, with their “drills”. Improvisation was the word of the day. Rubbish bins became very important
tools for the dentists. Palangganas were used to disinfect dentists’ tools.
Due to heat, dentists and patients need the much-needed refreshing air. Volunteers came to aid and fanned them while undergoing
“extractions”. Their stomachs became headrest for the patients.
As our way of expressing our gratitude, a simple lunch was offered to
volunteers of the day who sweated it out to help us fulfil our mission for the marginalized Lucenahins. We were entertained
by a number of videoke talents among the volunteers.
To the volunteers:
doctors,
dentists headed by Dra. Olga Talabong, president
of Quezon Dental Association
nurses from Tagbo family, Bob’s high
school classmates (QPHS 67),
Cita’s high school classmates (LU75),
Past Presidents,
kabataang Ugat
and those who assisted us in all the missions
we had this year.
To our generous sponsors who supported us
from start to finish.
MARAMING SALAMAT SA INYONG LAHAT!
Together, it was a day we can truly say
‘LUCENA,
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!'
